How long does it take for chiropractic to work?

Patient results vary depending upon their condition and other underlying factors. How long have you had your problem? As chronic conditions and ligament sprains may take longer for desirable results.  Are you getting sufficient rest, exercise and keep with appointments? Are you in otherwise good health? Within a short period of time most patients feel that there is satisfactory progress to justify completing our recommendations.

What is a chiropractic manipulation?

A manipulation is defined as a high-velocity thrust usually followed by an audible "pop" of the associated joint. Chiropractors use their hands to apply a controlled sudden force to a joint while the body is positioned in a specific way. The audible "pop" does not define the quality of the adjustment as the aim of a manipulation is to restore movement of the affected joints.

Who should see a chiropractor?

Anyone from young to old can see a chiropractor, being for pain, stiffness or just coming in for an assessment. Chiropractors are pain specialists and primary health care practitioners that have the skill set to diagnose a wide range of conditions and are able to refer to the respective practitioners, provided they cannot be helped through chiropractic care.

What makes that sound?

During an adjustment, your joints undergo a quick, gentle stretching or gapping of the spinal joint. When a joint is gapped, or opened up, gas within the joint itself is released and you hear a distinctive popping sound, this is known as a cavitation. It's very similar to the release of gas bubbles when you cork a champagne bottle.

Are chiropractic manipulations safe and do they hurt?

According to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) "chiropractic has an excellent safety record and is highly effective. However, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may sometimes experience mild soreness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise". This statistic was used due to America having the highest population of chiropractors world wide.

Do I have to be manipulated?

The simple answer is No. Patients will not be manipulated if they do not feel comfortable or do not consent to it, as previously mentioned there is a wide range of treatment options available to suit every type of patient.
